Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about our work and the processes in our law firm.
1Is DUERR the right law firm for me?
Lawyer Dr. Andreas Dürr specializes in advising and representing clients in criminal law and compliance proceedings. Under Expertise you can see which cases we typically handle.

Feel free to describe your legal concerns to us in a free initial consultation. If we determine that DUERR is not the right law firm, we will help you find someone. We cooperate with numerous law firms, among which you will find a suitable one.
2How soon can I get an appointment?
We will respond to your request within a few hours. We usually offer virtual or physical appointments or a telephone call within a few days. If there is a particular urgency, we can meet on the same day.
3How much does a consultation or representation cost me?
We usually bill our legal services according to the hours accrued on the basis of a remuneration agreement. Cost transparency is very important to us: We usually bill on a monthly basis with precise service descriptions. You only pay for real added value. In addition, you have the right to know at any time how much time it has already taken to process your case and how much effort is still to be expected.

In individual cases (usually if the matter is neither extensive nor difficult), we charge our legal services on the basis of the statutory fees in accordance with the German Lawyers' Remuneration Act (RVG).

A non-binding initial consultation is free of charge.
4How long will my procedure take?
There is no general answer to this question. Complex criminal tax proceedings can last several years. In the area of minor crime, the proceedings can be completed after just a few weeks.

In civil and fiscal courts, several years can pass before a final judgment is available.
5Will I be acquitted or will I have to go to prison?
It is hardly ever possible to predict a concrete result. We will be happy to discuss your case together. You will receive a realistic risk assessment from us, but we cannot guarantee a concrete result.
6Do you advise in languages other than German?
Yes, lawyer Dr. Andreas Dürr studied at Oxford and conducted research at Harvard Law School and the University of Toronto. He also advises his clients in English and often represents British citizens. Dr. Dürr understands French and Spanish.
7Does DUERR only operate in Munich?
No. Our clients are mainly based in Munich and Bavaria. With the exception of the Federal Court of Justice in civil matters, however, there are no singular admissions in Germany. Therefore, we can represent you nationwide before all German courts and authorities as well as before European courts.
8Can I mandate DUERR if I already have a lawyer or tax advisor?
Yes, especially in criminal tax cases, cooperation with your usual tax advisor is often useful and beneficial.

If we are to work alongside your usual tax advisor or another lawyer, it is important to us that the individual assignments are clearly defined. An unclear distribution of tasks leads to poor results and unnecessary additional costs on your side.

9Will I need multiple lawyers?
Generally, Dr. Andreas Dürr looks after your proceedings personally and with a holistic consulting approach: We look at your problem from all sides and bring it to a solution. If, for example, you are accused of criminal law, we can also take care of the civil, administrative or tax follow-up issues on request. This gives you a solution from a single source and you don't have to mandate (and pay) several consultants for the same topic. If, in exceptional cases, it makes sense and is necessary to call in further expertise, we will address this openly.
10Can you clarify whether my legal protection insurance covers the costs?
Yes. If you have legal expenses insurance, we will ask your legal expenses insurer for coverage.

If your insurer refuses coverage, we will check whether there is an insured event. Please note that you may have to bear the costs incurred as a result.
